Designer Glass Melbourne is led by Alethea (right) and Amethyst (left), two artists with distinct yet complementary visions.

Alethea, draws inspiration from nature and the intricate designs of William Morris and Tiffany, creating modern homages to Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles.  Over the past four years, she has specialized in commissioned pieces that bring these refined aesthetics into contemporary spaces. Each creation celebrates nature’s splendor, designed to enrich and resonate with individual tastes. She is exploring new possibilities with the materials to create framed LED light boxes and garden sculptures with woodworking sculpture and partner, Giles Candy.

Amethyst, who joined a year ago, brings a passion for clean lines and geometric precision, influenced by Piet Mondrian and Rene MacKintosh. Her work emphasizes the beauty of straight lines and bold shapes, adding a modern touch to the studio’s collection. From striking centerpieces to subtle accents, her designs blend sophistication with modernity. Her husband Will Hine is building on his framing and glazier skills to join the team.

Together, Alethea and Amethyst create glass art that reflects both the timeless beauty of nature and the sleek aesthetics of modern design.
